Not allowed to enter the goddess temple because I m suffering with the "monthly" problem . Really why does a natural phenomenon which I should be proud of because it shows my fertility is seized because I am a girl . Irony is a women's idol sit inside the temple. Who really made this rules I am sure god didn’t because our religion which is known to be one of the oldest has always respected and taught us to respect women . Vedic times was one of the most suitable times in which women lived in they were given education and the right to choose their groom. According to me the rules that women should not cook and go to temples while on their periods were somehow made for our convenience
 like we should not exert our self but as time passes man made it another way for women to be ashamed of being women.
I remember when I was in 10th one of my friends told me that she ate pickle and used some lotion while she was on her periods and it got deteriorated . Luckily this kind of rule doesn't apply in my house but there are other rules though very liberated . It is a scientific fact that we should not eat too much spicy food and pickles while on our periods but that doesn’t mean that women should be declared impure
And treated like untouchable. This is a common practice in India that if you want to make people follow certain rule than declare that not following it will bring you bad luck or in some cases ruined pickle.
Another rule that ruined my cousins wedding for me was a superstition believed by my aunt that if in their house any girl got her periods than she has to wash her hairs or else his husband will get sick.
Washing hair is all fine by me because it is necessary to be hygienic in periods but the problem was that I had just got my hair straight for the wedding and washing would mean ruining all my efforts . And having a bad hair day at a Indian wedding is a nightmare . So I requested my aunt if I could wash my hairs after the ceremony and as expected she created a scene out of it and I came out as the bad guy. And if you are wondering what happened to my hair well I washed it offcourse to save myself for anymore embarrassment .
Everyone has their own superstitions but I just wish if they were not used to bring down morals and confidence of young girls.
