Holding your own hand

I recently went for a forest safari on the hills. We were pretty deep into the jungle, the air was as fresh as it could get, the sunlight was peeping through the humongous number of trees around us. I stick my head outside the jeep and just feel the air hitting my face. My hair is untied and it's flying everywhere. There's dust all over my face and my eyes are closed. I'm thinking of how we cannot enjoy small things in life in this never ending race to achieve the best. I am an eighteen year old college student, and all I am asked to be concerned about is shaping my future. But my question for you is, if you spend all of your present shaping your future, what will you look back to? I believe we need more of pure experiences, free of any kind of other motives apart from just enjoying. We need to stop every once a while and reflect on how much time we waste away just slogging too hard to achieve our goals. It's not a bad thing, rather it's a very important part of life to move forward. But so is slowing down and focusing on what we leave behind in this fast paced life. While I don't get to do so very often, but I plan to take out at least three days in every fortnight where I spend time with myself and get to know my soul. It's a fact that until you don't know yourself, you can never truly know another person. And so this exercise is also extremely in order to wholly love others. It's one of the most positive things you can do. You might feel bored in the beginning, but soon you will start loving your own company, you will value yourself more and will also learn your worth. These are lessons school can't teach us. It's our responsibility to learn them. Most people go through majority of their life without doing so, and it's sad.
