Ambati Rayudu has announced his first-class retirement in a bid to prolong his limited-overs career
Surprises, twist and turns have all been part of Ambati Rayudu's cricketing career. On Friday, the 33-year-old batsman had another in store - one that that Hyderabad Cricket Association hadn't bargained for. In a bid to increase his longevity and also realise his dream of playing in the World Cup, the swashbuckling batsman decided to retire from the 'longer version of the game'.
In an email to the Hyderabad Cricket Association {HCA} and the Board of Control for Cricket in India {BCCI}, Rayudu wrote, "I have made a decision to retire from the longer format of the game keeping in view my injury history and my body going forward. This would help me focus on the shorter formats of the game and become much better at them and also will have time to keep my body in an extremely fit condition.
