Shh and the city !
I was afraid to post this in my blog for the fear of facing unwanted frowning of all my relatives and known elders of previous generations, but if they do see this, well pray for me. Am pretty sure that while reading this most of you would have placed yourself in such a position? away from the suspecting eyes of your family ,where you can read this in peace. If not find a place like that?. Maturity comes with age they said. Well said. But then what kind of maturity. We share our thoughts, we voice our opinions about everything except this. That’s because people will judge us. They will brand us in a way we wouldn’t like ourselves to be identified with. The question is why.
Over 500 rape cases have been booked, 300 sexual offences committed in Tamil Nadu alone, in the past year. We have had some brutally shocking and pathetic cases like the Nirbhaya one in Delhi which tainted the image of the nation in the global arena as the concern for the safety of women and children was raised. Children .I feel disgusted and ashamed when I read about five year olds being raped in the country. India ,as we proudly boast is known for its tolerance of religions ,respect for women, with rich culture and heritage and diversity all glorifying women in their own way, and then we have these reports today. Give me a more pathetic word than pathetic, no word can describe the society we are in. Am not disrespecting the great people who don’t do any of the above, am just concerned about the few who are uncivilized to commit those.
We compare ourselves many times {almost always} with the much advanced western countries in various or in almost all fields. Why not this .Sex education is as important as the science and math we study. It teaches something what every one of us will experience at later stages of life. It gives the right perception of sex, women and how it’s a thing not to be ashamed or feel shy about. After all its karma with a ‘r’ missing? .By having sex education ,by instilling the right mentality into the teens, the brutality the anticipation or the depraved pleasure people get in committing sexual offences can be minimized drastically, which leads to fewer crimes . As long there is a lack of knowledge or a wrong perception with the people nothing much can be done. Sterner punishments might sound a good idea, but prevention is better than cure, and knowledge is power, ain’t it.
Its common these days to involve subtle sarcasm and all those double meaning jokes especially those standup tamasha guys making us go rofl in an instant , these can be expressed in a sensible and simple manner so that it is like every other subject , rarely noticed unless we have to read it to pass the test except that something will be learnt. Am not saying that this a topic to be discussed publicly or over the family dinner {am not responsible for the reactions they give, if at all you are gonna speak with them about this}, all am saying is don’t judge people who do that, its just a food for thought :’} .
If u think posting about this will embarrass me, sorry am maxed out?
